Asparagus

( asparagus )
Read time: 1 min

Asparagus is technically a type of grass.

Preparation

Unfortunately, asparagus can be rather fiberous. The common practice of snapping the asparagus stalks by hand does not consistently or efficiently remove the tough parts. Rather than snapping in the ideal location, asparagus will snap in a location that is largely dependent on how you hold the stalk which can end up being very wasteful.

Instead, try peeling at least the lower half of the asparagus stalk before cooking to mitigate the tough outer skin.

Asparagus is great grilled and roasted, though sauteing can also yield good results.
